I have an MC21 SP for sale, in Birmingham, England.
Bought as a mint SP off the forum here, with the intention of turning it into a spare 'wet weather' race bike. I never got very far, except for selling the road bodywork. It has a V5 log book, as well as stainless TYGA race pipes and carbon cans, braided hoses, M Max kit and a Maxton shock. All SP parts like dry clutch, Magtek wheels, fully ajustable forks etc.
Unfortunately I have had to withdraw this bike from sale.
My dad bought this bike in good faith off the forum in March 07 and it turns out the engine has suffered a major blow up. The crankcases have been cracked (looks like a conrod through the case) and bodged with aluminium filler. We were not aware of this and are obviously very disappointed that it should have been sold to us without being disclosed.
Please see the original advert and see if you can see where it was advertised as having a blown engine (I can't see it!).
I will be repairing the engine with a new bottom crankcase and decide whether to keep it or sell it after that.
Sorry to all of you who expressed an interest in the bike. As always, I sell in good failth and felt it only fair to be honest and share my disappointment with you all.
I will go out on a limb here and stake my reputation (cos it's not much of a reputation to stake! ) by saying that I've spoken to Martyn many times, and met him, and I'm not convinced he would've knowingly ripped you off.
Very good that you spotted the possible problem though, and were prepared to fix it before selling. I rebuilt Monkey's motor a couple of years ago, and there was a badly damaged thread in the top crankcase half (from a previous rebuild) that would just bite. I tore the motor apart again and had the casing repaired and machined rather than hope it would be OK. It cost him what it cost me to have it repaired... no extra for a second total crank-out stripdown and rebuild. _________________ Andy.
