Diff'rent Strokers : Stafford Show

Tue Oct 02, 2007 3:55 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi. Thought it was about time I came on here and introduced myself...

I don't own an NSR, in fact I've never owned a Honda in my life. Embarassed I've got a TZR250SP Reverse Cylinder, a pile of those oddball KR250 tandem-twins and a background in the usual two-strokes (350LC's, TDR250, Kawasaki Triples etc). My missus has an NSR50 Gag bike. Cool Some of you may know me from the other 2-stroke forums.

I helped start Diff'rent Strokers last year. Me and a mate had been going to some of the 'classic' bike shows for a few years but were sick of seeing the same old bikes, they rarely had any of the stuff we were into and owned ourselves. So we booked a stand at Stafford Show last year and put five 80's two-strokes on it, including an NS400R and MVX250. Just an experiment but we got quite a good reception. Very Happy

Following that we started our own forum and tried to get some other people involved. Our next show was the VJMC Anniversary at Uttoxeter in July where - with a lot of help - we managed 10 bikes, including the MVX again, an NS250R and an NSR50 mini bike. Our poor location meant a lot of people didn't even know we were there though. Crying or Very sad

And we'll be at Stafford again this month. Sat/Sun 20/21 October. We've only got room for 6 bikes this time, but 3 of 'em will be NSR's ! Please pop by and say hello - we'll no doubt be tucked away in the furthest-back hall again but we're worth seeking out. Hope you think so anyway. Confused

We're not a club and we're not trying to compete with all the specialist sites and forums like this one. We're not experts and we don't have the mintest bikes. All we're trying to do is put a few interesting strokers together and show 'em off to a wider audience. If you want to get involved, have a look at our site and email us or join in on our forum. One or two of you have found us and offered bikes already and we haven't overlooked you, it's just tricky trying to arrange a decent mix of bikes. We're new to all this ! But we do need your help, otherwise we'll just be showing the same old things each time. Thanks. Smile

I'm sure some of "The Usual Suspects" would be up for a few of your events/displays from time-to-time.

I won't list the names... they all know who they are! We can usually muster 6~8 reliable owners, and 8~12 at a push now, depending on prior commitments. Smile

Welcome to the Forum.

Can probably arrange these two for a stand from time to time if you're interested?

Yeah, I usually go to Lotherton. Clashed with something else this year though. Embarassed

We've signed up for the Uttoxeter VJMC show again next year, and probably the Bristol one too in February. Usually go to Donington (also Feb) but probably won't have an official stand there. Sad

Once we get a few more people on board, we'll hopefully be able to do more stuff. Cool

Thanks for all the positive responses so far. Very Happy

It would be nice to go to something as close as Bristol for once! Very Happy

Llandow is the closest location we visit, then Southampton for Jeff350LC's college open day. It just gets silly after that. No-one appreciates how far we travel until we arrange a dyno day at Steve's, and they all have to gather up their passports and Hawaiian shirts to get into Cornwall! Laughing
