New Member - but 4 stroke, eh!

Wed Oct 03, 2007 2:27 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi all,

I signed up a few weeks ago but unfortunately haven't had the time to get my intro done Embarassed
Having a half day off today so thought i would get something done about it!
I am a member on several forums - worldwide, as my location gives me access to parts that people want so i help them out as much as possible.

Been into bikes since I was knee high to a grasshopper (not much taller now Rolling Eyes ) but stopped riding 2 strokes in my teens. Still always love to hear the rasp and smell the oil when at meetings and now with these trick Tiger striped pipes feel the urge to get another Cool

I have always done all my own maintenance on my bikes and when living in the UK, I religiously stripped my bike to every last nut and bolt each winter to store in my home. It generally got re-built in the kitchen,hall or livingroom depending on wether I had a "lemon curd" at the time Laughing That's when you find out if you've got friends - lugging a 600cc engine up to a 2nd floor flat Surprised

Been in the renovation business for 22yrs now but have had periods of College,Architectural technician and CAD training. I also invested into a small business of my own doing bike repair/service - most were mates bikes that i was already doing and bikes turning up in the boots of cars , trailers or wheelbarrows that the owners had given up on. I did however start building a good customer base and quickly word was spreading, unfortunately due to an accident on my bike and failing health I had to reluctantly close the business down but not before it had scoofed my savings with rent,rates and bills! I had always thought that I would get back to it the next month but the finances ran out before my health recovered Crying or Very sad

Being creatures of habit I went back into the renovation work and done 1-2 yr contracts completely overhauling premises.

I had a period of 8yrs off bikes Shocked Crying or Very sad and indeed if living in the UK I might still of been in that position. After living here for a few years I noticed that my aches and pains that prevented me driving were all but gone so I bit the bullit and got myself another machine - man, was that a good day driving out the showroom Razz As long as I am able i will not be with out a bike again!

A brief riding history;

Very 1st shot - honda SS50 (Big brothers)
1st bike - Yamaha TY50 (Turner tuned)
1st Dirt bike - Kawasaki KL250 A3 (Stolen Crying or Very sad )
Longest kept bike - Kawasaki GPz600R (Killed by a woman driver Evil or Very Mad Crying or Very sad )
Last UK bike - Kawasaki GPx750R
Fastest bike driven - Kawasaki Stage3 GPz900R (off the clocks)
Most unreliable bike - Honda H100 (Blew a hole in the piston every other month! Dealer kept stock for me Shocked )

Current bike - Kawasaki ZRX (not ZXR) 400 (Heavily moddified)

You haven't got time to spend here, you should be out looking for exotic TDR parts...

I also stopped in at a loacalish spray shop who have a 21 in for painting - it's a track bike and what a nick it's in Rolling Eyes

HRC Carbon cans;

Daytona damper unit;

These were in my local used shop, I know the complete suspension set is gone as I saw it being wrapped up moments after taking the pic'

Under 200 quid;

Under 30 quid;

They also had a few sets of HRC pipes in but think the RS250 ones are only left!

Drews the man...

I've had two shipments from Drew in recent months, containing parts that are either unobtainable in the UK, or much (MUCH) cheaper in Japan, including shipping etc. Knowledgeable and helpful, parts well packaged, and I haven't been hit by C&E yet...

He's already built up quite a reputation and client list on the RD Forum.

Give it a go...

Drew is a top man on the parts from japan I have bought many parts off him for my zrx 400 and they are all great quality .Also bought loads for my nsr mc28 through Drew off yahoo japan he knows a lot of the dodges they have on there adds to cover bad condition and his prices are right also.He is just really a nice guy to chat with on the net and has good rep on on the zrx forum here in the uk. He has many freinds on the zrx forum and is thought of he also does new parts but I will leave that for him to talk about before I mention it as maybe he has enough on his plate at the moment . Wink
