MC21 & MC28 ignition advance curve -INFO WANTED

Wed Oct 10, 2007 10:50 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi all

Does anyone have the ignition advance & retard curve diagrams for the MC28 PGM IV and the MC21 PGM III? This shows the ignition advance at various engine speeds (2D) and sometimes includes throttle position as well (3D).

There is a 3D one for the MC18 PGM II on the site's model history, I'm looking for something similar for the later MC21 & MC28. It doesn't need to be the 3D version, just a regular graph of ignition advance and engine speed is just as good.

If anyone can help please send to

danwilliams@greeneking.co.uk

or call me on 07974 132739.

Thanks

Dan

Like this?

I've just drawn that, as the pages in the manual just don't scan. It's only stock graphs in the manual though -- neither of the MC28 HRC manuals show the race graphs.

If you want the other 3 stock graphs (although I can't really see what use they are to you... just get an HRC card or a PGM-III!) you'll have to wait until tonight as I have to go build a motor now!

Thanks Andy, that's almost perfect!

Were there any numbers on the left vertical axis? The diagram shows 0-100% for throttle opening along the right axis, 5,000-10,000+ revs along the bottom for engine speed, but not the degrees of advance on the left upright axis. Any idea what the increments are? Those are the magic numbers I need.

Thanks for your help.

Dan

Nope! Just silly wiggly Japanese text! Confused

I think that one was with the RC Valve closed. There is another with the Valves open, and one more (that I can't remember off-hand)... none of them have a scale on the left vertical though.

I've e-mailed you the page scan Dan.

You'll be able to see why the English Workshop Manual is taking so long when you see it! I am redrawing all the diagrams, as they just won't scan! (Well, they will, but not to the quality I want for the Site.) The pages are so thin, that even with black card behind each page as it's scanned, the diagrams and text on the other side of the page show right through!

Timing is top secret!

F3 timing is something like 21 degrees@6,000 and 14 dgrees@10,000. No TPS
