Hello again
I have just finished clening up the garage floor which had bubbled up floor paint were my MC18 has emptied half a tank of petrol over it the night before. The worry is that the tap was in the off position as since fitting the new suspension linkage the bike does lean over a long way so I alwys turn the tap off ,anyway it was on a paddock stand. I removed the tank , turned it on and on to reserve and back a few times then back to off and it stopped leaking petrol. I will check the needle valves in the carbs to see if any thing is a miss as this is where the petrol was probably coming from ,but I had just been on a 100mile run out the day before and it ran great.
Has anybody had this sort of problem ? Do you think I need another tap ?
Are you sure the problem is the tap and not the float valves in the carbs? _________________ james

the same thing happen to me before. stuck float + bad tap. fixed the float then fixed the tap. couldnt find a tap so i drilled out the 2 rivets adjusted the spring thingy inside, re-installed with tiny bolts so far no problems.
Thanks for that ,I'll attack the tap in the morning & clean the carbs whilst changing the brake hoses and the clutch. Busy day .I'm doing another track day at Brands in a couple of weeks so realy don't want petrol every where .
