Hi guys, i'm currently restoring an MC16 replacing the worn out faring with a restored mc28 faring. This ai'nt easy as new brackets have to be fabricated, however the next problem i have encountered is the clocks won't fit under the more compact screen, are there any other clocks that might fit? will the digital ones from an MC28 fit? what about the wiring will they easily fit the wiring loom? The end is so near, i hope someone will be able to help. thanks Brian
The MC28 digital display requires the PGM4 and all it's gubbins to function. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
You could try an MC18 set of clocks, they seem to wire into most NSR's without too much fuss (excluding '28).
I've fitted MC18 clocks to a couple of '21's (I know you have a '16) and they worked a treat. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
thanks guys, has anybody out there got a set of MC18 clocks the want to sell? has anyone got some photos of the MC18 clocks so i can compare them with the MC16. thanks Brian
brah why not try one of those all in 1 digital dash that fit anything. they cost less then 200 bucks and have tach, temp, speed, and someother things on them.
Yes i was thinking about one of those units, however i'm not an electrical genius and sorting out the wiring ect.. seems a little daunting to say the least. I've spotted some clocks off an nsr125 that look smaller so i might give them a go. thanks Brian
don't forget to post some pictures of the project as i'd love to see an mc16 with an mc28 bodywork before and after the spray job.
Trail tech do some excellent bike computers and if you go onto the TBM (trail bike magazine) forum from the uk, you can post a question on there as i've seen an explanation on there on how to wire the thing up. they reckoned the instruction manual is pretty easy enough though.
i was going to fit one to my enduro bike but then cheaped out on a stop watch instead and binned my clocks all together as they are a distraction.
a french enduro rider mate of mine fitted his to a 1990 wr200 import 2 stroke, so it should go on to a mc16 too.
As always guys thanks for the input, i've been quite busy on the D.I.Y. front just lately so have been neglecting my baby in the garage, not for long. This postal strike is causing a little grief, waiting for parts ect.. I'll get some photos up next week. thanks Brian
