Which Rear Sets Should I Buy?

Thu Nov 29, 2007 1:35 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi, I have an 89 MC18 with an M21 rear swingarm.
I recently layed the bike down and broke my stock left footrest so it's time to buy some rear sets. I have heard that some brands shift smoother than others, does anyone have any experiences / reccomendations?

Thanks! Question

I think you may be a little restricted for choice regarding MC18 rear-sets these days.

I have an HRC set for my R5K; I don't know off-hand of anyone who still makes aftermarket kits now.

Smooth shifting will more than likely be down to how little wear there is in the bushes and/or bearings and how the angles of the lever, pushrod and knuckle are set up. There's no reason why any particular kit should be any better or worse than a stock setup when adjusted correctly, although it can "feel" different and take a little getting used to.

R5K for £41 Mr. Luke! Very Happy Not in Terra though... yet! Although it will be in 1988 Terra colours eventually, even though it's a 1989 bike.
