What part of it were you going to use or just double everything up?
I would think it would be easyer to make an adjustable back plate for the stock pickups and use the stock PGM-II/III _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
As Stephen says, you may be just as well to stick with the stock PGMII - III. The timing is pretty good once derestricted, plus you get to keep all the little useful features such as side stand switch, neutral light etc.
Having said that, if you're up for it then anything's possible.
Never done the mod but I'd suggest:
You'd need a pair of CDI's, then modify the flywheel for just one lobe (same timing as CR), but keep the two stock pickups. You'd obviously need to check timing with a light and start off at stock NSR timing, or close to it. Then have a fiddle. Timing could be changed with offset woodruff keys.
Does the NX5 flywheel have the same taper as the NSR?
Just wondering how to have a charging system to feed both the cdi's, like the CR125 has, as i don't imagine that a single CR125 unit would work so well... _________________ The Chopster
The taper angle is the same, but a different size.
If it's of any use, I fitted a hybrid 125 road bike/RS250 NF5 ignition to one of my 300's. Basically NF5 charging system, through NF5 reg/rec, into NSR std battery. Stable at around 12.1V with engine running and revving, but not with lights on, indicators flashing and horn going. It might have struggled with that.
