MC18 Project - how much is it worth ??

Mon Jan 21, 2008 6:06 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

hi Guys,

The reality of having no time to look at the MC18 i bought a while back is starting to strike home... I'm windering what you guys think its worth (obviously subjective according to how much somone wants it) even in a price range i.e. 4-500 quid etc....

My bike is a std road going machine that was low sided about 3 years ago - damaged front and rear wheel when it hit a kerb (obviously low speed) and ripped off the foot peg and front brake lever..

I have bought front and rear wheels for it, so woudl 'just' need r/h side rear set and a brake lever - plus the precious time that i don;t have..

I haven;t have the engine running yet - need to get a battery as its totally dead and won't take a charge... had carbon reeds fitted, gearbox oil looks brand new, air box was totally immaculate, and the guy had said it was rebuilt briefly before the accident..

I'd rather not break it up - if i had time to break it up i coudl get it built !! and am thinking it may just be better to move on to someone that has time... although i woudl love to get this thing built and onto a track....

ideas on value ??

not sure if mk 1 or 2... is there an idiots guide to know how to tell ?

i will take pics - possible later - all its bodywork is off, subframe discxonnected etc as i was planning to remove it to clean & paint etc...

i actually decided to connect a known good battery to the terminals tonight - nearly died when it almost fired first kick !!! it did fire and run briefly on 2nd kick...

its maybe not getting fuel as it just seems to run out - what type of fuel pump (if any) do these things have ?

a small amount of fuel in each carb and she is straight into life, sounds amaziningly crisp..

will try to get pics up...

Mark.

as you can see cosmetically it isn't currently concourse !! but its all there bar a brake lever and r/h side rear set - the footpeg has been ripped off the actual rear set.

like i said its currentlt firing no worries - but would need to look at fuel supply, or pump or whatever... great to actually hear it run i must say Very Happy

the spare fireblade engine and race car are not included in the valuation please Razz

Hmm, my first guess would be its worth two bottles of Advil, maybe 3 depending on what the engine is like Twisted Evil

Where are you, and is the Blade motor going in the Stryker?

Give me a shout first if you do decide to break it, eh?! Wink

not sure what advil is - but i'll pass on the generous offer.

Andy - no worries, as i say I'm very unlikely to break as i simply don't have the time..

that engine came out of the striker - and another one is being installed as we speak ready for the season..

i can sell the 893 motor and manifold carbs etc too Laughing
