So, come on then, how much do you reckon going to the TT for a few days (or whatever) would cost, and what's involved? B&B, camping, need a numpties guide please! _________________ Andy.

i went last year , ferry was £220 return with pillion , b&b £40 per person per nite , all in all with beer, food and petrol spent around £1000 for a week with the missus
camping is cheaper,i did that 5 years ago, never again if it rains and you get wet, you stay wet , theres nowhere to dry your gear out, and it always rains at some point on the iom
the only downfall i had to go on my r6 as the missis wanted to come , i have to go back on the nsr some time, the roads are fantastic, espesially the mountain with no speed limit
recomed the bb as sods law it will rain and at least you have somewhere to stay with tv etc during day if weathers rubbish. as to spends like everything they ramp the prices up for tt time but its depends how much you spend also DONT buy your pints in the bushies tent as its a rip off in there.
Last year i did homeshare with my mate in Onchan, basically one of the locals put us up in their spare room and we had it on a b and b basis £30 each a night, worked out pretty expensive in the end considering you have to eat out every night.Ferry was £180 each.
This year me and Anita have a 2 bed self catering flat in port erin for £650 for 10 days, she's flying out with all the bags for £200,me and the suzuki £185 on the ferry again.
Who's going this year?
cheers Rob.
A friend and I went with a van to the manx gp a couple of years ago, £400 for the ferry and £25 per day per head for food and beer. The benefit of the van is that you can travel the island, find a quiet spot and park up. We locked the bikes together at night and slept in the van, not to bad except when it rains at night, you needed earplugs in!! You also have the added bonus of not needing the rac to lift you if it seizes!! _________________ it's a name, not a condition
if you contact the tourist board they have info on peoples homes you can stay and see what they offer some do b&b others do dinner as well worth a look and from what ive heard they can be quite good.
van ones a good idear but as a tip if the van has windows in rear/side door you book it online as a car NOT a van through the comercial section so you pay car rate. vans are a lot more expensive dont ask why as ive had it out with them all ready.
Not including getting the 21 written off. I paid £200 ish for the ferry and not much more than £10 a night camping. That was for 2 of us in 1 tent.
I only live 1/2 an hour from Liverpool and only went for a long weekend and the weather was sh*t so I think I only filled up once.
I think I spent more on t-shirts and beer than fuel and oil.
And if your thinking of going this year you'll struggle if your ferry isnt booked already. Otherwise you'll be getting stung around £200 for a £20 booking like I did last year. _________________ If you dont like the way that i ride.....Stop trying to keep up!!!!!
I can only really comment on the TT course...............very very disapointing ride. Went round it twice on Manx GP week a couple of years back and couldn't work out what all the fuss was about. I was expecting miles of twisting tarmac going all over the shop! Certainly ridden many far more interesting biking roads in mid Wales, the peak district and Devon for example.
Incidently I didn't pay for my trip but had an urgent job to deliver to a waste plant over there, it just happened that the Manx GP was on at the time. Picked job up in Dudley, rode to Liverpool, ferry to IOM, delivered job, rode to a pub on some famous corner, got a pint of shandy and some chips with something that was supposed to be a veggie burger, watched two races, rode round track twice, caught ferry back to Liverpool, rode home!
