New owner saying hello

Mon Mar 31, 2008 7:21 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi

New owner saying hello to you guys.

I recently purchased a MC21 Rothmans SP which had cosmetic damage with a view to doing a quick repair job of the broken parts and enjoying it for the summer.

On getting it home and doing an initial strip down I have discovered it’s not an SP but a Bitsa, without one genuine Honda panel on it, no Magtecs, a few missing bits around the carbs and a few technical challenges to overcome in getting it to a SE spec.

So this is where the fun starts.

Cheers,

Russ

Hello Russ,

You said 'getting it to an SE spec', by that do you mean it is actually a R spec (wet clutch, non adjustable suspension)?

Good luck with the project, let us know how you get on.

Yeah thats the way I remember the e-bay advert as well (assuming its the same one) I am pretty sure he mentioned that it did not have the Mag wheels in the e-bay advert.

The bike is probably the one you are refering to from ebay.

He was conned into thinking it was an SP without the wheels, and that was what I thought the bike would be.

From the codes on the sticker on the subframe it appears the bike started out as a R, the got upgraded to a dry clutch crank case and adjustable suspension.

Thats the reason I metioned getting it to an SE spec, unless some Magtecs come across my radar at resonable money.

The bike is a quite a sound starting point when you look beyond the cosmetics.

One of my first tasks is to get the barrels and heads matched:-

H front barrel with L head.

L rear barrel with H head.

Stupid question but are the barrels interchangable front to rear?

At least I wont need any new parts.

It looks like that head I am winning on ebay maybe surplus to requirements now...Doh!
