NSR prices are like petrol - every time I leave the house they've gone up! Or so the prospective vendors would have you believe...
What's a fair price for a good to excellent condition:
MC21 SE / SP
MC28 SE / SP
Anyone bought from Fastline in Preston? The bikes seem to be good but are the asking prices reasonable?
I know this is a difficult area - a bike being worth what someone's willing to pay but I'd appreciate thoughts from the forum and any recent purchasers. _________________ 54x54 those were the days!
the problem with the NSR price thing is its one thing saying what price you think would be fair for one.
but then try and find one at that price ?
i would not be happy to pay the money that is being asked for them at the moment. but then i am in the fortunate position to have one already.
and having said that i would not consider selling it even if i was offered a (in my opinion) over the top price.
i think if you want one bad enough as you have already indicated you will pay. and some of the dealers currently pedalling them have got a sniff of that.
you have a very stark choice to make. pay what they want or wait ? for how long no one can say.
i wish you luck and i hope you can get something you want at a price that seams fair to you in the end.

Really tidy '28sp's have been £4-5k or+ for a long time now, they're so rare (I've NEVER seen what I'd call a minter in the flesh), but I did go to see one in Bristol Bike Direct priced at £4.7k that supposedly was mint (it wasn't) and got a couple of others offered to me for that sort of money too.
So MC28sp, £5k or more these days, more if it's genuinely perfect
MC28se I'd think £3-5k depending on dealer or not, mint or not, I paid £1700 for this and some odds and sods.
MC21?
Well here it gets tricky, traditionally this is where the smart money has been with SP's going for anything from £1500 to £2500 and SE's even less.
But as some dealers have recently managed to shift these at mc28 type prices, it's anyone's guess these days. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

I recently paid £5000 for a MC21SP Rothmans. Its in good condition for a 1992 year bike, but not showroom / mint condition. Personally I was pleased to pay this money, even though it needed a front & rear brake cylinder overhaul and I have not looked into the engine yet! But I doubt I would have gone much higher on price.
A mint MC21 / 28 SP is reported to currently sell for up to £4K in Japan (as it seems do SEs). So I guess you have ask yourself what premium over the japan market prices you are prepared to pay, to have the same / similar bike imported to the UK. _________________ Rich

Myself and Racer38 had a chat about this very subject last night.
You can find what looks like a nice/mint 28 sp on Yahoo Japan for around £3500/£4000.Then it will cost around £1000 to import it what with the shipping costs and tax's.
So the fact you can walk in to Fastlines showroom and pick up a mint 28sp for £5500 seems to make more sence these days.
The 28sp seems to be more sort after in Japan than they are here. _________________ Harley Davidson is the worlds most efficient way to turn petrol into noise without the harmful side effect of horsepower.
OK. so i read it wrong, it says SP to be listed soon
Never looked that hard as i'm not that interested. To me it's well over priced, but as already said if that's what you want that's what you pay.
