I cannot get my 1994 r pump pulley index marks to line up. i believe the cable from the carb pulley to the oil pulley might be too long but i've checked it out on this site and it seems to reference the same part number KV3 830. My cable has an extra four digits on it which are: 0A3O does this mean anything. the cable is in very good condition so you can imagine i don't want to shorten it.
or is it possible to incorrectly fit the pump pulley.
any suggestions are welcome.
PS just moved to a small seaside town near exeter if any of know of any local nsr meets. thanks
Hi, just a quick thought have you fitted the oil pump pully to the correct part of the carb pulley. Just make sure you have the throttle cables are on the same pulley. _________________ MC21 300

tip: open oil pump leaver to full, then set the cable so at full throttle, the pump is fully open, this will probably set it to slightly open at off throttle,
which will cause a small build up of oil in the crank case if using low throttle for a period of time, which can quickly be fixed by giving your bike some hard throttle breifly,
this will allow for maximum lubrication for oil-injected applications and allows for lubrication when off throttle (biggest killer of oil injections)
i'm hoping to tax it for the start of the next month, so i can use it for work regularly and i really don't want to bypass the oil pump, since i have one.
i will look into both your sugestions and hopefully i can get it well lubed up for the weekly jaunts to Torquay.

without sounding like one of them people that suggest the questions on the trivia pursuit game are wrong if they don't get the answers right...but....
I took all the cables off, checked the settings and i have come to the opinion that the pulley index picture in "workshop" cannot be right, surely.
On my oil pump pulley i have two index marks and a letter H. the letter H is nearest to the cable nipple holder on the pulley and continuing around the edge of the pulley i have the first index mark (this i can set at full throttle).
the one indicated in the workshop diagram near the end of the pulley passes the "line up point"as soon as i open the throttle quarter way (this index mark is the furthest away from the nipple holder).
Try as a like, no play anywhere that i can see that will bring it into play at fully throttle, unless i shorten the cable but as you have all stated i don't need to do this just set it as you have stated.
this has led me to query that either i have an irregular pulley with two index marks, an incorrect cable or the diagram is wrong (surely not as it is probably a honda picture).
i am now going to set the pulley up to open at max throttle and this will line up between the H and the first index mark. (I've just had a brain wave.) i'm going to have a look at my other pulleys to see if there are any differences between models.
hope this is clear, if you understand please comment.
thanks
wes
PS hope i'm not going to have to eat humble pie re the workshop diagram.
The diagram is from the official Honda Workshop Manual. It is however possible that it is different for the MC16 model (where the majority of the information is centred, with supplements for the later models), but the principal is still the same.
It should really be pretty self-self-explanatory when you actually look at the oil pump. Open the throttle to max, look at the pulley, and a line will almost certainly be at least close to the alignment mark on the pump body!
If I'd known it was going to turn out to be such I nice day I would've considered a ride down this afternoon to give you a hand. _________________ Andy.

yes Andy i think you are right and i will set it up to the one nearest the line up mark on the pump body when the pump is on full open.
once i have her fired up i'll drop you a line and see when you are next out on the bike, however this one is still restricted as i wanted to run it for a week restricted before i do the wire splice so i can see the benefits of any changes. the one i have isn't a good example but i like it nonetheless
i've been running my wr and lets just say i'm flat out at 80mph going to work. i'm not going to tax it until june now as i'm buying a house and need any extra cash.
