So I ran the bike to work twice this week. A nice 40 mile trip down Hwy.
101 in the Bay Area, SF to Sunnyvale. I am thinking I need a better
seat, the minimal Tyga racing pad isn't cutting it. Any ways...
At about 8K RPM my speedo (TrailTech Endurance) indicates 75 ~ 76 mph.
Bike has 14/42 sprox. What do you guys get? I am thinking I have my
speedo calibration off a bit. It felt more like 65 ~ 70. Couldn't find a
car to pace and watch their speedo!
Also I got about 137 miles (on speedo) before switching to reserve. On
my last fill up, I had just turned on reserve before filling up and put
4 gallons in. That is about 34 mpg. Does that sound right? I was
thinking more like 200 per tank. My bike has HRC heads, Tyga GP pipes,
HRC jet kit, reeds, pod filters, 010 card.
The reserve is about a gallon right, maybe .7 or .8 gals? Listed
capacity for a MC28 is ~4 gallons.

agreed my sp drinks petrol like i drink guiness and whisky and stella, carling, fosters, meths, toilet duck.................. _________________ ive seen more tarts than mr kipling
You talking US gallons? Listed capacity you read may be in UK (imperial) gallons. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
My mildly modified 21 normally does about 120 miles from full to reserve, I think it did about 140 when it was stock. Factor in fully synthetic at £10 plus a litre and its not the cheapest way to commute but its definetely more fun
My daily commute mileage is about 50 in the car and about 80 on the nsr
Fuel consumption?... I'm lucky to get my MC21 out of the hign teens when I use it!
So a tank full should last you about a year then Andy!
used to get to about 85-90 then hit reserve mates rgv was the same but we did abuse them lots up our local race track (owler bar) and mate ross's 330 bhp evo is rubbish with fuel but trevs 400 bhp sapphire cosworth would do 8 mpg _________________ ive seen more tarts than mr kipling
When I think about it (which I try not to too often!), it's funny how I bitch and moan about the price of fuel and how expensive it is to run the car, and then own a 250cc bike that makes it look like an advert for Greenpeace!
Still, at least the road tax on 250 is still cheap... for now! _________________ Andy.

Just as well the tree huggers spend all there time worrying about Chelsea tractors really!
One of the things I like about 2 strokes is that you are sticking 2 fingers up at the pc brigade with your size 12 carbon footprint every time you ride it
[quote="Andy"]14/42 on a 1994 MC28 gives 150kmh @ 10,000rpm. That equates to 120kmh @ 8,000rpm (74.5mph) on a standard gearbox.
Thanks Andy,
A measure check this weekend confirmed I was a bit off on my speedo settings. The tire circ. is 1899 not 1924 as I had originally calculated. Dam Metric to Std. conversion.
I hope to test later this week and confirm with a GPS for accuracy. I am thinking about trying a 15t front sprox to drop the RPM a bit. Any thoughts?
And yes, I was talking US Gallons. The tank spec. is 16L but is that with or w/o reserve? My speedo setting would have thrown my calculations off too but even at that, 34 mpg isn't horrible. _________________ Andre E. Benguerel
