My little 50 is a fun bike. It isn't really fast but going over 50mph with only 8hp is pretty impressive in my book and I always get the props from the guys on full size bikes. Beyond the novelty of it though it falls short. It is not a weapon at all. My long term plans are rather insidious though and when it's done the locals on 400s are going to be getting a lasting view of my bike's taillight.
The increase in power the plan calls for means I will have to do a lot of reinforcing to the bike. Honda never intended this bike to go over 100mph but this one will if everything goes to plan, well over. First on my agenda is getting my back wheel pushed to the rear. The 50cc motor can pick the front wheel up a lil bit and I know the final evolution of the bike will make it downright dangerous. As you can see in this pic the rear axle is pretty much right under my *** making it a perfect pivot for power wheelies once I am actually generating power.



I took out the tape measure and propped up the rear end to eyeball just how far back would do the job and look good. 12-16 cm of stretch fit the bill.



Armed with this I began to search for a source. This ain't a Hayabusa so finding someone who carries anything and is willing to build to order would be quite a task. I found that company though in G-Craft

These guys build some truly sick **** for the Monkey (ZB50 in the states) and do carry some things for other mini bikes including my NSR but nothing crazy. I e-mailed the company and a nice guy, Kotoro-san got back to me. I wanted the braced swingarm but it only stretched to 4cm over stock, the standard swingarm could be ordered as long as I wanted.
I explained to him what I was up to and he agreed the brace would be a necessity at the speeds I was after. He built one just for me at standard price plug length, awesome! It took a month to build, actually less than that and it got here today. Luckily my wife was home to get the box but she didn't call me. I walk into the living room and there is the box!



I paused at this point. I have a lot of money tied up in this and if it is anything less than what I expect I am going to be pretty upset but I promised I would not return it because he did it special just for me. I started pulling out the newspaper.



I a few words, HOLY ****IN ****!



The original agreement was to use the standard brace and run the extra 10cm out unbraced but Kotoro-san must have bent a special brace to run the full length!



The tubing is triple boxed inside for maximum strength but this whole piece weighs like 2 12oz cans of soda! It should be noticeably lighter than the stock piece which is steel.


I paid extra for the needle bearing fulcrum. The stock swingarm and the basic G-Craft unit use a steel tube with a rubber bushing.



The stock swingarm has a slot, this one has a proper dropout



I am so excited about this. IMO well worth the $800.00 I dropped on it. Yeah, I know, **** it I regret nothing!

It will be several months before it's on the bike though. I need to get some upgraded brakes and most importantly a proper rear shock. I'll update when I get all that stuff done.

My thoughts exactly!

The guy quite clearly takes a lot of pride in his work, and I think it's great to see someone has actually over-delivered on a hand made product in this day and age where so many seem to try and do just enough to hit the mark, let alone surpass it! It's a lot of money, but it looks like a lot of swingarm/craftsmanship.

It will be a few months before I mount it. I need to get a real adjustable rear shock to get the sag correct and I am not bolting stock brakes on this thing! I also want the galespeed wheels but that's much later, $1000 later.

that looks mint mate but i have allways liked polished swingarms, frames, fork sliders, top yokes, rear sets,foot pegs .................... it can be a bit of a piss take to keep them as new but in my book it is a way out of doing jobs in the house

oh snap, you are in Japan too? I'm stuck down in Okinawa and can't get nashi.
Next on the list is some RS125 forks. I'm watching the auctions but haven't seen a set in good condition. Would you have a source I could talk to? Used is fine as long as they are in good condition. Honda parts won't talk to me until I give them a shatai bango and seeing as how I don't have an RS125 that is proving difficult.

Nice 50!! Heres a Fiat rep with a 426f motor....I know he shoulda stayed 2t. its out in Monterey.
