I am thinking of buying this. Can anybody tell me anything about it? The seller says that it might be an HRC rear shock for an NSR. It's got some measurements:
305mm height adjustment +−10mm upper hole is 12 by 24.5 and the other is 10 by 39
was taken off an MC21 allegedly.
Seller says that it can be recharged by a scuba tank compressor or something ??!!!?!? MAYBE
So ....anybody recognise it? And should I buy it? Do you think it will be much better than the stock?

yup, looks like a 21/28 shock. it looks a little ratty but that can be cleaned
up. the most important thing is that threaded collar on top to give you ride
height adjustability
Well, I've got a spare SP shock floating around at home anyway (same as the SE right?), so I don't want another one of those!
Are there any advantages of the F3 shock other than ride height adjustment? _________________ MC28 SE -sold-

There's another F3 shock on auction at the moment, I can get that one for you if you like, starts at 200 quid, and I doubt the bidding will go above 250, you'll probably get it for 200.
Do you want it? _________________ MC28 SE -sold-

Julian,
the F3 shock has different internal valving, setup for track use like an RS. Combined with the added adjustablity, makes it real nice to have for track use.
I can tell you that just comparing my NSR back to back with my RS when I was at Ebisu last May, I didnt realize how much the NSR rear shock needs work. The RS was rock-solid and stuck well, the NSR rear felt like it was all over the place and unpredictable. _________________ Paul Herr

Why get an old F3 shock when you can get a new ohlins for about 430 pounds?.I have just put a new ohlins onto my NSR cost $1300 NZ.This included them setting it up for the track.
There's another F-3 shock going for 200 GBP, so you can have that one if you want.
OR there's this thing on auction, but I suspect it's going to go for a fair bit:
Whoops!!! Just bid on it. Yikes!!! What am I doing, I can't afford it!! _________________ MC28 SE -sold-

The added bonuses over the stock SP shock are stronger internal damping, a lightweight aluminium body and ride height adjustability. The actual damper valve is the same as an NSR, but there's nothing wrong with that.
The fact that it has a valve in the reservoir means that it's been rebuilt. They came from the factory fully charged and "non-rebuildable".
I have the very same shock on both my NSR300 and NRS250. They work great. I have another in my box upstair, but it's missing the top mounting piece.
The stock NSR SP shock can be rebuil;t to the same spec as the F3, and then recharged with nitrogen in the same manner as the F3 shock shown in the picture by fitting a valve. Just for your info, they're charged at 150psi.
