Sure, that is what I do when I am on the road. If I am on reserve I put oil in for three gallons, add three gallons fuel, then figure the rest out from the space I have left. You've got to assume there is properly mixed fuel/oil in the carb bowls, fuel line, etc. Most 2T oil made for pre-mix on the street mixes very quickly with fuel. A good shake of the bike after filling couldn't hurt though. _________________ Andre E. Benguerel

Sorry NSR-Lover, that question is just too hard to answer. There is no "one size fits all" for jetting. What might work in your bike may suck in my bike. Best thing to do is a plug chop. Google it if you are not familiar with the process or check the tech section. That will give you a good idea of your mixture at 170/6th/10K. You typically run larger jets for pre-mix as the oil in the fuel creates a weaker mixture. If your bike has been converted for pre-mix, someone should have changed the jets accordingly. Pull the carbs to make sure. _________________ Andre E. Benguerel

I hope you don't really have 128 main jets in there. Stock with oil injection is 140 and like has been said pre-mix bumps that up with some guys running close to 200. I would check what you have going on before you pop that thing.
Here we go again, Andy will have kittens when he sees this thread!
NSRLOVER has an mc21!
MC18 and MC21, stock mj is a 128
MC28 stock mj is a 140
Premix is 3% which is about one jet size up.
200 mj's will be open carbs and no power jets.
That's the big bit, NO POWER JETS!
Specific jetting advice is banned in the general section but this is so general I'm happy to say the 200mj's and power jets on any NSR will be too rich!
The rear hed conversion puts the plug more central in the combustion chamber, it doesn't make a noticeable gain on it's own, you'll also need the shorty plug and cap unless you want to wear you plug cap down with the front wheel under braking.
It's an easy job though and a must if you're chasing max power as the front head plug position is rubbish. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
An mc21 on stock jetting (128mjs, stock needles, 38 slows and 72/75 power jets) will run leaner than Honda intended by at least 3%, that may or may not be enough to cause problems.
It's been said a million times, any engine modification may require a rejet.
Personally I'm not a big fan of premix on the road, it's a pain in the neck at every fill up, uses a ton more oil, means carrying a bottle of 2t oil around and obviously with a closed throttle there is ZERO oil to anything. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
I figured he had a 28 since that's the only type of NSR worth having right. That's a joke before anyone gets their pantys in a bunch.
I've debated going to premix and so far haven't done it mostly for the hassle of riding on the street and carrying around oil. Plus the fact of the oil pump always injecting oil even when you run it out of fuel. I was wide open the other day coming home and didn't realize that I was low on fuel and was glad I had the injector and not premix when I had to go on reserve.
I just did the rear to front head conversion using the stock plug, cap and most of the stock hose and the fairing is in place with nothing sticking out past it to contact the wheel. It is possible so if you want some pics NSR-lover send me a PM and I'll send them to you.
Brake harder! The front wheel hit's the plug. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
NSR-LOVER wrote:I agree with the most but why in closed throttle there is no oil?
My opinion is that if the bike works and burns petrol then it burns oil too.
Think about it!!!
If you shut the throttle from wide open the motor is only getting fuel/oil for a 1000rpm idle, not a 3000+rpm over run If you are braking from flat out down hill into a bend that could be a lot of revs the motor has to pull, with very little oil.
