It's only fairly basic, but I'm hoping it will do the job! There are probably still a few mistakes on the site, and bits that don't look right yet, so it will be a work in progress. If you see anything thats wrong or looks crap, please let me know and I'll put it right!
If anyone wants a link sticking on there to their own web site, let me know and I'll get it put on.
That took me a while to get through!
Nice job on the site.
You might want to put a picture of yourself on there though. As long as it won`t scare people away!
Love the paintwork.
I`ve been recomended to try TST. I may pop over and see them.
Why don`t you try the F250 with Derby Pheonix next year?
Hopefully I`ll have got my act together and get out again next year too!
Good bunch of people in the F250, we may have a few NSR`s out there if all goes to plan.
Power wise, my race bike from last year was fast enough to win with suprisingly small modifications. Just set up to standard SP racing specs.
Your Kiss delimeter does the same job as the Honda one I used.
I ran open carbs with a copy of the race airbox.
I don`t know what the power output is as I never had it dyno`d.
Like I said, was fast enough.
I ported the engine myself, using advice from the Tyga site and here.
It`s still reliable with this set up too.
Cheers,
Roy.
Thanks for the advice mate. I'll be fitting my racing in around my shifts, so I'm hoping to get to a few DP rounds next year as well as Thunderbikes. F250 sounds like a good series, and it would be good to see other NSR's out there, and a few more two strokes.
My old fella knows Tony Salt and he's a sound bloke. I'd definitely recommend TST.
Bike wise, I think the engine will be staying pretty much standard as there's a lot more to come from me yet. I think I might run open carbs next year though, and have the engine ported as you did. It would be nice to keep the reliability it's got at the moment.
I'll have to find a bike related pic of me for the web site I think. You're right though, I don't want to put people off!
No worries Rob.
Fontyyy, (John), on here ran a very tired SP spec tuned engine last year. The engine was just a bit down on power.
He`s had a very good reliability record. Only recently the MC28 he runs cooked it`s PGM. I think he`s only had one mechanical failure which was his own fault, apparently. He`ll probably be along soon, to put me right!
I had a couple of seizures in my first outing at Mallory. They were my own fault too.
I rushed to get to the meeting. Didn`t have time to test the bike or set it up. Had to do that at the races!
Anyway, an old piston cracked just under the gudgeon pin boss. I didn`t know how old it was as it came with the bike. It looked serviceable and measured up okay. I should`ve just fitted the new piston I had anyway, in hindsight!
The second seizure I had was the other, lower cylinder. This was due to fitment of a rough second hand front head. As per the conversion for SP racing. This too looked serviceable, ended up leaking coolant into the combustion chamber, eroding the piston causing it to seize. My own fault again!
I had an 'R' head machined to SP spec, fitted this and had no more problems.
Like most problems, they`re caused by operator error!
