I'm getting Error 2 from my MC28 after adjusting my power valves? If I turn off the machine and turn back on it goes away for about 30 seconds. In that 30 seconds the power valves move as they should. They have just been cleaned and move freely? _________________ 1995 A kit TZ 250

In my experience Err 2 is indeed the PGM reporting a problem with the PV motor, presumably it's either not gettiing a message back or it's unhappy about something else.
Take care, I got an Err 2 and got a fried PGMIV about 5 mins running time later (PV motor knackered, PGM couldn't move PV's, PGM fried itself trying).
The 30 odd second pause before the Err 2 comes on happens even if the PV motor is knackered and the PV side of the PGM is fried, so just push the card in, don't start it and see if it Err 2's in 30 seconds anyway, if it does, try and get hold of a known good PV motor and start praying to whichever God (or god) you believe in.
If it doesn't I'd think something must be physically wrong, probably either the PV motor is shot, the cables are too tight or adjusted badly.
After all, if it was fine before you ripped it down and now it's not you have done something wrong _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Thanks Fontyyy, I've been searching the forum and found a couple similar questions but no answers. I stoped right away because I was thinking it was PV and we all know what happens next
I will try to turn on and off with card and not the on/off switch. I will also try re-adjusting them.
P.S. The only god I pray to is the Honda god and sometimes the porcelain god _________________ 1995 A kit TZ 250

Any more info on this problem? Mine seems to have the same symptoms. Did you end up fixing it? how? _________________ MC21 300R w/SE bits, Rossi 2001

Like this. That's a PGM-II, a modified mc18 loom, mc18 temperature sender, mc21 flywheel and mc18 clocks. Quite a drastic solution eh? And it's just a racebike so no need to worry about things like ignition lock, steering lock, petrol cap lock etc.
Worked fine, made exacty the same power, started a bit easier.
I then got hold of another PGM-IV from Japan when I sold the bike as I figured an mc28/mc18 hybrid was worth a lot less.
A PGM-III (from an mc21) would be an easier swap as the reg/rec plug, TPS, stator plug and carb solenniod plugs are the same as the mc28. The mc18 plugs are all different.
I see you've asked Moriwaki-man too, that is as far as I know the only other option.
If it can't be fixed then the cards you have are only of use for getting Moriwaki-man to get them re-programmed to match another PGM-IV and that's going to be a very expensive way round the problem. It'd be cheaper to source a PGM-IV from Japan with all the cards you want though you may have to wait a while for one to turn up.
So your options are;
1) maybe fix it if it can be done.
2) fit wiring and other bits from earlier model. There are a lot of little things to sort out here if it's a roadbike.
3) buy another PGM-IV from somewhere.
Sorry for giving you nothing but bad news! _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
