NSR-WORLD carbon airbox...

Fri Dec 05, 2008 2:09 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

OK, a pre-production airbox has been pulled from the mould...

Some minor tweaks will see it ready for production soon. The "marks" on the outer surface won't be there on the production box. This one was just to clean up the mould that had sat unused and gathering dust for 18 months!

The keener eyed of you will notice it's not quite the same as the HRC airbox. This is so it will fit in place with the standard air corrector solenoids. This airbox will also fit the MC28.

It will be offered through the Members Area to Ti Members initially, as to start with it will onle be a small production run.

More info and photos in the Members Area soon.

Shocked Shock me, why don't you! Laughing

Did you see Top Gear the other night, with the Ferrari Daytona and the boat on the Italian Riviera? The boat had a carbon bog... I thought of you when I saw it! ROTFLMAO

So, that's a home for one of them then... does it actually matter how much they are Si?! Don't you even want to wait until you see the quality of a "proper" one before you commit? Wink

It won't fit an MC18 I'm afraid - you are right, the gap in the frame is narrower.

I do however have an ultra rare HRC airbox for an MC16 (which will also fit an MC18) that a mould could be taken off at some point, if (a) there is enough interest, and (b) I can bring myself to let it out of my posession. The MC16 box even comes with ram air style tubes out the side to the indicator pods and little scoops to replace the MC16's faired in indicators, but I don't think that's all copyable!

As for price, I'm not sure yet as we need to find out how much all the consumables are going to cost (this one was made with materials remaining from another job). It will naturally be a bit more than the GRP boxes that we did a couple years ago, but cheaper than the HRC airbox you can't buy from Honda any more! Wink

No, not just you. If they made CF breasts, my wife would have them!

Nice job Andy. Good solution for the 28, very smart design.

but that you can aquire if you try when you get sick of waiting for the "copy" Wink

Mine actually is a '28 one but it's missing the 2 bits that run up to the gap in the HRC radiator, not that it matters as I haven't got the radiator.

You can even acquire one if you have the time, patience, and usually the money! Wink

They often tend to often be around the £100 mark by the time you get them to the UK, unless they are damaged in some way or you are very lucky. The NSR-WORLD carbon ones will certainly cheaper than that though. Very Happy
