What clip ons?

Thu Dec 04, 2008 10:42 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

What handle bar/clip on set up do you guys run?

I have the stock set up and the angle is super-steep. Even worse than my Ducati, which I didn't think was possible.

I'd like a less steeper angle and something that is two piece at the fork leg end.

Cheers,

Look into WoodCraft (http://www.woodcraft-cfm.com/Scripts/default.asp) for opotions.

I use stock and yes, they are steep. Sucks when your wrist is jacked up.

Ooh, I like the hinged Harris one!

Chaz - what are the fork tubes OD on your RS? Are the 2001 and newer forks larger in size when compared to the early bikes?

The 2001 RS250 has 41mm forks.

I believe the previous model year had the same size forks.

I think he means the OD of the leg Charles, not the stanchion!

Can't remember if the NX5 is 50mm or 52mm. I'm using RVF400 clipons on mine, but on the lookout for some Harris ones like Si's from time-to-time when I remember! Smile

Well I see the problem now. It's Friday and I'm simple reading every third word Smile

Okay, pre 01 I believe are 50mm while 01+ are 52mm

Thanks Charles, but Andy is right. The tube at the triple clamps. Battle Factory lists the 90-00 as 50 and the 01-on as 52.

So my planned fork upgrade won't just be a quick slip in job. Looks like I will need the triples, clip ons, etc...

Can't you get the current triples milled out to 52mm? You can then have a set of shims made up if you ever want to re-sleeve them to take the original forks again.

Saves having a custom stem made and worrying about the offet and lockstops etc. of the different triples.

I guess milling would be an option. My thoughts were the old front end would find its way into the NSR Wink

The offset is the same and so is the stem diameter (same bearings on both bikes) . I would imagine the stops are the same as the headstock areas are nearly identical. The stem length is another question?

Chaz - whats the stem length on your RS?
