You can't tell unless you ride it, or you remove the transmission.
If it does about 100kmh in 1st, and then the rest of the gears are very VERY close, then you will know! (If it does 100kmh in 1st and won't pull 4th, you know it's just got a big front sprocket and a small rear! )
The HRC gears are undercut, so look up "undercut transmission gears" on Google to get an idea of what you are looking for. _________________ Andy.

Getting divorced is even more expensive! Save yourself the bother, live in sin, and buy all the F3 parts you can find... preferably off me!
Who can put a price on stuff you can't buy any more? It's worth whatever someone wants to sell it for. You either buy it, or you don't.
I have an MC21 F3 frame to sell. The last one I heard of selling privately sold for US$1000, and that's what mine is up for. If no-one wants to part with $1k for it, I will keep it. I also have a "special" F3 frame (with the big headstock and magnesium castings) that I wouldn't consider selling for less than $2000, if I were to even sell it at all!
I paid £75 + £25 insured airmail just for an N.O.S. F3 input shaft. I would've paid £175 for it as the spare box (with full options) I have is usless without it, although it would be good spares for the box in my 21 I guess.
If you can steal it off him, great, but if he asks for £350 then the choice is yours. _________________ Andy.

I probably wouldn't even sell my wet F3 transmission for £350, let alone a dry one!
As for my MC16F3 transmission... I would want £1000 for that! That should keep it safely in my hands!
I've only ever seen one other transmission similar to it, and that's on Yahoo right now starting at £750! The one listed now is an 88, mine is an 87. The 88 is machined out to take a kickstart if required... the 87 laughs in the face of a kickstart! I've not bothered to translate what it says there, but it hope he's not telling people it will fit an MC21, as it won't! Not unless there's some serious crankcase modification going on first! _________________ Andy.

He had an F3 MC18 for sale less a few bits, basically an F3 rolling chassis with a ported stock motor, F3 ignition, radiator, heads, carbs and airbox.
John Lowther- races an R1 in NZ Superbikes. His missus Anita raced it for a bit, then they had kids... _________________ The Chopster
Yeah, that's the kit. It's 1988, and won't fit anything else unless some serious machining mods are carried out first. _________________ Andy.
