what kind of oil can be used instead of air filter oil for air filters? i looked around in a lot of oil shops, but with no luck it feels like not a lot of air filters need oiling. can the filter be runed dry? or maybe a good automatic transmission oil? 80w-90? _________________ feel the wind
Just run it "dry". Stand-off from the carbs will soon dampen it down for you.
Rinse it out with a little petrol (you can even mix a very small amount of 2-stroke oil in) and then squeeze it "hand dry". The 2-stroke will leave a slight oily residue on the element. _________________ Andy.

Thanks Andy you are always fast on replies.
i will wash the old oil out with warm water and some washing poweder i do believe one of the cause for fouling plugs at WOT is because of the filter cloge. then will use gas plus 2T as you said. _________________ feel the wind
or mineral terpantine, just did mine the other week and bike feels alot better i used a spray can type oil to reapply after washing
gl with it
also forgot to mention, wash it one way only so that you don't embed dirty particles in the filter or something, can't remember which way i washed it now.... but it might not make a difference
If you can buy one of the K&N air filter cleaner kits, they usually come with a cleaning solvent (most likely turps), and oil.
If you are rinsing out the filter, the cleaning liquid goes from the clean side to the dirt side....that way the particles get washed out of the filter.
If you lube your filter, just a light amount of oil, is required!
