Hey am new to this forum, so howz it to all you guys first.
I picked up an MC28 a while back for a good price, but had a few things wrong with it, mainly the previous owner, had 10 lost the card 2) tried to bypass the system 3) screwed the card reader so badly it wouldn't work anyway. He gave up and left overseas and i happened to be in the right place at the right time, not knowing what i was getting into, i figured it would be easy to bypass etc etc, man was i wrong. The rest of the bike looked pretty good, in need of a lick of paint and a bit of TLC.
Firstly big ups to NSRmonkey who offered a hand who then put me onto Andy (nice site Andy) and thanks to Andy who put me onto TYGA, Paul is a top bloke and i couldn't say enough good things about him and his business, he sorted me out an old PGM cover with an intact reader, so thats on its way, only the card......... So Paul suggested JHA or TSR, TSR never got back to me but Akira from JHA did and have just sorted out getting a HRC 030 card, only thats at least a month and a half away.
So any other major issues aside (hope none) the bike will be running in under 2 months i can't wait, then hopefully i will have a bit of money aside and the modding will begin, i'm aiming to get around 70hp out of her, if i get more, well i won't be complaining.
There aren't too many MC28's over here in New Zealand and i know the 21 is lighter etc but i reckon the 28 look bloody hot (best looking honda road bike bar the RC45). cant wait to go scare some bigger cc bikes.
To top off a good day, my trusty TL1000S just got back in the garage all ready to ride, only i'm not quite ready, still in cast from when a 200kph wheelie went rather wrong, i ended up breaking both my hands, but that was it, the leathers ett did the rest very well. Only bout 2 weeks and i should be good to go. The TL dont look like a TL no more though but it'll still do the trick.
Cheers people, don't suppose there's anyothers on here from NZ?
And i know the MC28's are restricted via the card to 40odd hp, what kinda hp can i expect with the 030 card, bear in mind the rest of the bike is stock.
Thanks

Exactly the same!
Get your wire splice done and off you go.
Hi Paul, im up auckland way, not by choice, work brought me up here, normally reside in welly.
Cheers on the info for the wire splice, is this the way around getting the HRC wire harness?? _________________ 1995 NSR250Sp MC28 - stock at the mo, and almost running again - 1998 TL1000S, streetfighter (only coz i biffed it away at 200kph doh)
The MC28 wire-splice is pretty effective! You loose some functionality (speedo, neutral and stand warning lamps) but all the lights, indicators, brake-lights, horn etc. still work, which is handy! _________________ Andy.

yeah thats a cheap alternative around the hrc wire harness, im in rotavegas but thinking of heading to auckland for a few months iv got a 92MC21 we should go for a ride sometime, its off the road for cleaning at the moment though, thinking of taking it into mt edan motorcycles so they can rejet it and all that other sh*t.
You will prob have to order jets, they seem to be rare over this way. Biggest mainjet i could find in stock was 150 in wellington. Powerjets are non existant.
In my experience with the bike stock and just the HRC card you could see about 50-55bhp. My race bike has run on both the std and HRC card. I've fitted a jet kit, open air box and Dogfight pipes and the std card gave 57 bhp.
Sliping in the HRC card saw 59.5.
Not a huge increase and how Luke F laughed, (his 21 hit 61bhp) but the shape of the power curve changed. It made more power earlier in the rev range, but also dropped off sooner.
Now this all happened in the distant past, before kids and sleepless nights dulled the brain function, so the figures may not be deadly acurate. But in my experience the HRC card wasn't the big increase in power I'd first hoped for.
All said and done my first 40bhp MC28 still whooped my mates around Donnington GP circuit. (that's with the Loop).
Just on another note, the best thing you can do to de-restrict an MC28 is fit Tyga pipes (with the std card). You'll see much more power than keeping the stock pipes and running an HRC card.
Any more thoughts on trundling across to Llandow and down to D-Day Tom?
Don't have to actually do either event, but to see you and the bike there would be good. Maybe we can twist Scott's arm to join us... Matt@TYGA is even threatening to turn up! _________________ Andy.

Yep the MC28 will be there.......and it'd be rude not to circulate a bit......well either until I break something (my boby or engine) which is what seems to happen at these events.
Hey great news Tom, finally going to get a good showing of NSR's all in one place! We've only been talking about it for what, 7-8 years?! _________________ Andy.
