Track and very occassional road tyres

Sun Mar 15, 2009 7:06 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Went to Oulton last week, but the Japanese BT92 tyres on my bike were not confidence inspiring - the Focused Events bloke told me to expect an off in short order! I am told Dunlop gpr 10s are the thing to have, but my MC18SP has Magteks (17" front and 18" rear) so not sure if they will have the size.

Does anyone know where I can get Dunlops, or other suitable tyres for the NSR for a good price. Also, is anyone aware of folks selling part worns (like the supercorsas on ebay) that have done a qualifying session and then been offloaded.

M&P usually have em in stock (alpha 10's) pay around £130 or occasionally less if on offer.
18" rear is no problem

i can recomend gpr a10, i have them on mine , there fantastic on track
but i,ve never seen them at £130 , i paid £160 for a pair from an online shop thats the cheapest i could find for a 17 front and 18 rear

you wont get supercorsa,s in the standard nsr size
the only tyre in standard size is the dunlop or the bridgestone bt90
there both good and around the same price

The 110/150 (both 17") was a special deal at M&P, £109 if I recall correctly.
I bought 6 pairs!

Will a 150 profile fit my 18" rear (140 official size) and does it have any problems for steering? Sould like a good deal if so.

Cheers for the advice folks

1988 = 140
1989 = 150

It would help if you said which you have! Wink

I believe the rear rim widths are actually the same on both bikes though, and a 150 can be used on either.

Earlier MC18's have got a narrower rear rim. I had two mc18's and couldn't figure out why i couldn't get to the edge of the tyre, even on the track (both bikes had 150 bridgestone bt90's). Took me ages before i noticed the rim was narrower Laughing As for the handling, riding the bikes back to back i couldn't notice the difference round Brands hatch.

Ah, well there you go. I knew someone would correct me, although I'm not sure if it's the same with the rear Magtek rims... maybe they are both the same width.
