warming your bike up

i know this sounds a stupid question but it is still a possibility as to why my bike seized, Shocked my bike was started with no choke and left to idle for 6/7 mins before i done a slow 3 miles ad was 5/6000 rpm 6mph 5th gear when it went, i couldnt of ridden it much slower, how do you warm your bikes up before use, Confused

that would of been fine mate. I always get the temp guage registering a good reading before i move off and generally clear the exhausts. it takes me a few mins to get anywhere where i can open her up so that serves as a good warm up to

To be fair, I'd love to say I warm it up carefully, but it'd be a lie. I don't nail it from cold but it gets 5-6000 rpm within 60 seconds of firing up.

There's nothing wrong with a little RPM as long as it's not under undue load.

A motor will warm up to normal operating temperature quicker if it's used (i.e. ridden) lightly after a minute or so. (Generally the time it takes to put a jacket, your lid, and a pair of gloves on.)

well that has set my mind at ease i did think it was warm enough but as have never had one before i wasnt sure,its the same way i warm up cr 250/cr 500 and never ever had a problem with those,thanks to all Laughing
