Keep the Fortuna in case of accident, or sell it to recover some costs I say!
Why would you have gorgeous new bodywork and then keep it in a box for someone else to enjoy, or not enjoy it yourself?
It's a bit like the Yanks that put "car bra's" on the front of their motors to protect the paint... why would you drive round in something that looks crap just so that someone else can benefit when the vehicle is sold on?! _________________ Andy.

I know exactly what you mean, but i wont ever be selling my NSR so I can just benefit from it myself in the future. I just wanted to buy the new stuff while a) I have the money and b) it is still available from Honda.
As you know I do use my bike and it is not locked away to look at. In fact I did a track day on it about 2 months after the fortuna paint job and new fairing...wasnt happy loading it in a van though!
Your not wrong, I have been thinking about buying a new crank as well...just as a spare. At the moment we all know somehone who can rebuild them, but who is to say they can still get the bearings/be bothered by the time I need a new one?
I have three sets of barrels and a spare PGMIV so I have most of it covered except for the crank!
But like I said, I dont want to ever have to sell it, I have had it 12 years aqlready. The track bike may one day get put back on the road and sold.

After the significant spend, what is the point in putting new OE rothmans bodywork away in storage. It should be enjoyed on the bike.
At least your riding the bike Watfordhorn. Consider the guys who have all bought £6.5K MC28SPs from Fastline in the last 12 months or so. I recall at least 3 or 4 going through the shop. Then (usually) we don't hear anything on the Forum from the owners, certainly not any running issues or comments about how good their shiny new bikes are. There is no way I would have spent £5K on my Rothmans 21SP to not ride it, or to then fit cheaper non OE bodywork.
I did buy a new crank as a spare, with the same idea, that at some point they won't be available. Then had to fit it anyway!! _________________ Rich

My problem is I still really like the fortuna kit and its a bit different, although having followed Paul on his Pentax yesterday I really like the orignal shape again. Its nice having these kind of decisions though.
I think they both look good but not sure which I prefer, either way its going to be ridden but I would be less upset to damage the fortuna stuff than mint orignal panels.
My lambretta has finally been complete so I can now spend some time getting my NSRs up to scratch. Maybe another summer with the fortuna and then fit the Rothmans next year along with a thorough rebuild and a proper clean .
What is this talk of putting stuff away? Just get the bike you want and use it!
Even at the top end of the stupid price range these bikes aren't exactly massive money are they? You can go to any trackday and see dozens of far more expensive bikes being used "as they should be". _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

I think the last time you must have been here was in the '80's because I haven't seen a car bra for 25 years.
lol they are all the range in NC still. Of course they are on the more normal side of the states. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
They are closer to us (therefore must be more normal) than those odd balls way over there on the west. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
Car Bra that made me laugh.
However, I saw some fine examples of that particular aftermarket mod in Houston last month, and even one in Kuwait last week, they follow many a US Automotive trend in the 'Gulf'. _________________ Rich
