hey guys I recently ''serviced'' a OEM "SE" rear shock to a MC28. I added a ''schraeder-valve'' and braided line to replace the worn out OEM ugly rubber line. Question ? What gas ,and how much psi , to re-charge with? I think "nitrogen'' , not just compressor-air, right? and anyone know where to source ''nitrogen'' , if that is the gas used? thanks , dave
I used to do my MX bikes 10 years ago. I think it was 160psi from memory and I started with nitrogen, but used argon in the end as it was easier to find and free.
You can use Carbon Dioxide in an emergency but it'll perish anything rubber it contacts. You need an inert gas that doesn't expand with the heat or explode and not attack the rubber bladder/seals in the shock.
you should be able to nitrogen or argon gas from any welding gas supplier. You will also need a set of gauges/regulator to step the pressure down from the bottle pressure to your required pressure.
