opinions please

ive been thinking about the sp when she's back from nigels, should i get the engine done next and sort of rush it to get on track unpainted.or be patient and bring her out fully painted and engine done for next year?to be honest im thinking the latter as money is an issue and would rather bring the bike out finished.problem is im quite impatient and if the engines done i will want to finaly use it Rolling Eyes so whats everyones opinions on this, would i be daft to try and rush it?

I've changed your poll options Si, so they make the question clearer.

I say rebuild the top-end but leave it stock, and just have it set up properly. Spend the money on some nice red paint and slap the stickers on. It only needs to be flashed over in red... shouldn't take more than a few days and you can enjoy the rest of the summer on it.

I'd source another motor and then work on that as and when funds allow.

I would say unpainted, Si. My past experience is first time out on a newly painted bike = CRASH. Which ever way you go - good luck!

For the track? Unpainted and get out there soon as ya can. Never know if you'll be alive next year, let alone in a position to race it. Live for today! Wink

Exactly why I just use cheap spray cans on mine, two out of the three times I've done it I've thrown it down the track the following meeting.
Sat there on the armco watching people racing having just been knocked off and broken your collar bone is annoying enough without the thought you've destroyed £500 worth of paint.

Added to that if you use the RS fairing mount on the NSR fairing bracket it'll just hit the ground at anything like decent lean anyway....

But is it "on track" for odd track days or actual racing? Fair enough if you're racing (and not on a silly sponsored budget) then run it unpainted, but if it's odd track days and street fun/meets then with the kind of money you've already put into it it would be silly not to have it blown over with a decent coat of paint. Let's face it... it's red - all over!! Hardly an intricate/expensive paint job is it, and you have all the stickers too. They don't have to be lacquered over (meaning you could just get the fairing and tank painted and apply them yourself), although it would look nicer.

its going to be track day bike not proper race bike as ive got to much money in it to batter it racing.its going to be sprayed and stickered up properly by a mate who runs his own bodyshop for£250 in ferrari red Very Happy as andy has mentioned about paint, after the wedge ive thrown at the bike i dont want to spoil it with cheap paint.if the worse happens and i crash, its only red to respray which is why i went with the burning blood colours.and andy has kept the graphics on his cutting machine Very Happy

Paint it. I'd have been burning to ride long time ago but I would still rather see it painted.

Also you might need to look impatient up in the dictionary. It means someone who can't tolerate delay, I wouldn't call this bike on time.
