YESSSSSS! It lives

Sat Jun 27, 2009 5:32 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

My 21 has been out of commission for about five years, since it seized big time while a buddy was riding it. Started fiddling with it two winters ago, tore it all apart in my garage for no good reason at all. Fitted a 28 swingarm, put it all back together, and then was afraid to try to start it. Didn't want it to NOT run, because at that point I would've taken it into the back yard and lit it on fire.
Decided to actually try it a couple of weeks ago, and it ran but not well. Got the jetting sorted out (up on main jets, got rid of the airbox lid), or at least I hoped so. Decided that this morning was the "do or die", so headed out for about a 30 mile ride through back roads and towns. Ran like a champ. Awesome. Now I'll clean it up, maybe get it painted, sort out the suspension, etc.
Great, another money pit bike. But man, does it put a smile on my face. And get this, I didn't see another one like it all morning!
Wink Thanks to all on this site/ forum, from which I've found so much information and motivation. Keep it up, ya'll.

I'm curious too. I'm about 30 miles north of the Oh line, in s/e Mi. I'd love to cross paths with other NSR's here in the states.

Excellent news. Such an awesome feeling when a long term project lives again.

And don't be tempted to junk the standard bodywork, there's too many clones out there already, and standard is becoming rare so more valuable. Wink

I'm between Cincinnati and Dayton, OH. About 15 minutes off of I-75.
The bike has stock bodywork. Its solid, but has been Krylon-ed white at some point. Looked into bringing some OEM from Japan, but shipping is pretty prohibitive at this point ("How bad do ya want it?"). I know I don't want the Chinese/ HK stuff.
Will make-do with that I have for now. Its pretty much a rat-bike.
