Faster, Faster oops!

Tue Aug 04, 2009 7:17 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Oops! got a bit carried away at a trackday at Rockingham yesterday and managed to crash the nsr Embarassed
All in all myself and the bike got away quiet lightly considering, my cousin was following me and he described it as a full on Lorenzo style high side, luckily I landed on my head so no real damage done then Laughing
The bike done a couple of cartwheels but saved itself from any real damage by using my body to break its fall and pummel me into the track Shocked
Luckily I had old bodywork on, the tank is dented (although remarkably only 1 small one) but I have a spare Pentax one, cheers Si Wink , clip on snapped, subframe might be twisted but again I have a spare. The r/h Tyga pipe has definetely exhaled its last puff of 2 stoke smoke, that big dent seems to match nicely with the dirty great bruise on my left thigh!
My Arai done its job well and proves the worth of investing in quality kit.
As for me...... I feel like the slowest runner at Pamplona! Very Happy
Very battered and bruised but amazed I have no serious injuries

Sorry to hear that Paul. Glad you and the bike are not too badly damaged.

Hope you will be ok for Cadwell in two weeks. Do you know what caused it? Old tyres, slippery track?

I bet it was on shi**y Bridgestones!

Glad you're OK Paul, and the damage does look surprisingly light! Even the end can is undamaged! Confused

Nice road rash on the helmet.

Hopefully you don't find any severe damage when you tear the bike down.

Ouch, sorry about your bad day but I'm glad you and the bike are still around. A couple spares, an afternoon or two and you're back in business.

Maybe yesterday was a bad luck NSR track day and nobody told us. Next time somebody in the UK thinks it's one of those days, please send me a pm because I'll have 5 hours advance notice!!

They would work out very cheap if they save that kind of damage.....but where can we get a pair for standard wheels from?

I bet you had no problem passing the eye test for your race license Fontyyy!

They're hard to find in 110 and 150 sizes.
Google it and plenty of places in the states sell them though I've asked two UK Pirelli dealers to get me some without any luck at all.

They definately exist, I've got a pair of Diablo Supercorsa's (they're the ones you really want) in 110 and 150 sizes on the roadbike which is a tragic waste of over £250's worth of tyres. Or it will be if it ever stops raining.

I've also now got a pair of Dragon Supercorsa Pro's in 120 (on a 3.5" rim) and 160 sizes on the racebike to try at the Cadwell TD.
If I'm feeling industrious I'll rip the wheels off the roadbike and take those over too for some back to back tests.

Remind me again why I sold that spare set of rims Rolling Eyes

Yes Bridgestone 090's, hard to say what really caused it apart from rider error! Tyres were warm as it was nearly the end of the session.
I think it was mostly down to over exuberance, to much gas to soon.
The bunch of lads I was with were riding rvf400's with 090's and were all lapping faster than me with no problems.

wasnt that long ago before you started racing this would happen to you every trackday every session....

so not really unforgivable unless you get the 5000 hours tracktime you get a year mate..... Wink
