I'm pretty sure the NX5 went from 1993-2000, from 2001 on it was the NXA. So your 2003 would be NXa.

If you visit:

and use the parts books on there, you can work out which model bike the forks you have come from.

If you have an NX5 let me know, I have a manual so I can look it up for you. If it's NXA, best bet is to try calling a race bike dealer.

NXA (2001-200X) forks have the following standard service data for them:

Fork Fluid:
Honda Ultra Cushion Oil Special (SAE 5W)

Fork Oil Level:
140 (5.5)/423 cm3 with fork set collar (t=11 mm/0.4 in)

Now I am sure that is extremely helpful

So his is some more details from the manual:

You must use the fork set collar for correct oil level adjustment

Measure the oil level from the top of the outer tube.

Standard Oil Level:
140 mm (5.5 in) with fork set collar (t=11/0.4 in)

Standard Oil Capacity:
423 cm3 (14.3 US oz, 14.9 Imp oz)

The forks are in fact "NXA1" "L" and "R" as I just looked , sorry for the confusion in my incorrect nomenclature upon my original question. thanks much ; dave egan

Yes, 14.3 US oz of SAW 5W suspension fluid.

of course you should not only put in the recommended fluid level, as well as measure as per mentioned.
