Question from a newbie. How do you tell the difference between an SE and a SP? Frame no MC28 1000541 Havn't found engine no yet. Thanks Paul

SP - Wheels should be magtek units and fork top adjusters should be anodised blue.

Fork tops anodised blue. wheels Asahi tec. so does that make it an SE? has dry clutch and program card.

Gold front brake rotor?
My guess given the fork adjusters are blue is that it is an SP.

Pull the seat and check the model decal on the subframe.

Not much is 100% accurate as far as being a SP but the decal is better than going by the forks or wheels.

Can also check the cylinders. SPs have different ones to R or SE models.

Is that true, are SE and SP cylinders distinguishable?

I've always been under the impression R's came with K marked up barrels and cylinders and SE/SP's came with L marked up ones.

Maybe I am wrong then. I guess any SP "lookalike" will be at least an SE to start with so forget my last comment.

Does it have a dry clutch? Does the rear shock have a resivour?

If yes to above then who cares what it is? It's got the bits you need. The Magtek wheels are an added bonus.

The SP forks (blue twiddly things) have a different design to the SE, where the rebound damping also controls the compression damping to a small amount.

This is definitely one area where all you MC28SP owners can say your bike (or at least bits of it) is better than the MC21 Wink

For all your info, the SE/SP have the same engine. The SE/SP cylinders are marked with an 'L', the R is marked with an 'H'.
