miss fire

my mc18 has developed a miss fire below 3k, after that it runs fine. the exhaust also pops, seems to be on the front cylinder. checked everything i can think of electrically, plugs (new) ,coils all connectors and had the carbs apart and cleaned!
can anyone help???

Make sure the carbs are sealing on the manifold. I had backfire and one of the carbs had come out of it.

well i found a snapped exhaust stud , would a blowing pipe cause a back fire? Question

maybe its the other way round. A back fire snapped a exhaust stud.

well new exhaust gaskets and a set of plugs seem to have sorted it.
she still smokes alot guess i'll have to turn the air screws out abit more!

Turning the AS out will only richen the low speed mixture.
It may be smoking heaps due to coked up pipes. I'd give your pipes a clean first.

think turning air screws out will let more air through and lean the mixture ??
will definately get some caustic soda to clean the pipes out though!

Fontyyy's too busy blitzing his MC28 Cadwell Park lap times on his superior MC21 to worry about those capital letters right now! Laughing

Just to add insult to injury, he beat the previous best on the MC18 too! ROTFLMAO
