Hi got a ride day in a couple of weeks and my mc18 is missing .It has a miss and the tackometre jumps down 1000rpm each time and it does this at any rpm anyone got ideas
Cheers
Check the wires to the coils. They can get carbon build up if the connectors are not tight.
The tacho is driven from the PGM unit (s) so do a careful check of all the connectors, and also do a resistance check of the earth wire (from the battery to the frame, just disconnect the positive lead from the battery before you do it.)
Should be as cole to zero Ohms as possible. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

I'm not saying your crank isn't a problem but there's no way that a bearing problem could cause the tacho to drop 1000 rpm. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Yeh that is the prob . The stator moves about 5mm up and down it is just weird that the bearing was not noisey. I guess the stator kept hitting the pickups or being to far from pickups. Then the pgm did not know when to fire or what the rpm`s were.
I'm surpised it actually ran at all, with a stator deflection of 5mm due to broken crank bearing _________________ Rich
