Well my 250 is finally due a new chain - the lightweight racing one on it is fooked!

What are you guys using - anyone go the full monty X-Ring?

Nah, im on a DID520DZ - the dude in the local shop recommended it as he uses a similar one on his post classic race bike but its got a split link clip thing in it so i've ordered a riveted link. It looks pretty skinny from above - I had a more substantial looking Tsubaki Alpha, O-ring chain on before. Aren't the X-ring ones all about handling very high power?

Whatever chain it is - its gotta have GOLD LINKS!

I run Renthal non O ring chains. I couldn't live with loosing that much power by running an O or X ring chain. Every HP is hard won. No point throwing them away!

Stephen, what sort of power is lost through a chain? Is it really that noticable?

I run non 'O' ring as there cheaper and the amount of miles the bike does its not going to wear out that quick!

That's why I have the non o-ring on it now, and posed the question to see what others are using.

I'm currently running a Renthal o-ring, sprockets are getting a bit shagged though and I have been pondering the pro's and cons; o-ring a potential power loss but less maintainenance required, non o-ring a little more work, a little more power and a lot more chain lube splattered over my nice shiny back wheel
The Renthal chain has lasted pretty well to be honest, its done 8000 miles and still has some life in it.

I am very happy with DID 520 ERV2 , it's a non o-ring race chain . Most importantly the links are GOLD .

running a gold renthal o-ring on mine.........mainly coz it look so pretty!!!

Will you guys stop it please, before someone here is accused of having a sense of humour!

Why do things simply when you can complicate them

Finally fitted the new chain today - having raised this topic last November!

Ordered chain and sprockets from B&C Express, and the rear is not quite the perfect fit.

It comes with the inserts already fitted, but the screwthreads didn't match the Honda bolts, so I punched them out and used the originals, despite the holes being about 1mm bigger than the inserts.

I'm sure it'll be fine.

It sounds a bit dodgy to me. If the screw threads dont match, rather try to change the bolts. That 1mm may cost you a tear or two.

isn't the standard thread a fine pitch ? Maybe your new ones are metric
