I'm looking to upgrade my 1995 NSR250SP with USD frorks. Now I understand that the best option is RVF400 or RS250 USD forks but those are very hard to find. What I have found is Kawasaki ZRX400 and GSXR400 USD forks. Has anyone grafted either of those forks onto their NSR? Opinions on either one of those fork set ups? Thanks
get some radials thrown in mate i put some rvf forks in mine but then decided when bike was nearly ready that i wanted some radials got some r6 radials forks for the same money that i paid for the rvf.so consider that as an option,i wont post a pic of bike here but go to my build and have a look through to see the pics _________________ ive seen more tarts than mr kipling
Hey Joe, The ZXR400 front end is almost bolt-on. There are quite a few topics on ZXR fork conversions on this site. I personally didnt think that the ZXR400 forks worked any better than the SP forks, only looked nicer.

Don't you think putting none-Honda parts on it is kind of blasphemous though? Silikesguiness' bike looks awesome - don't get me wrong - but when i was looking at USD forks it had to be something off another Honda, no question! _________________ After years of moaning about immigrants now i am one...

Good call! If you want proper sussies it has to be HRC stuff off an RS. You can't get any better, and it's Honda.

have you noticed that on various forums Honda are sometimes referred to or thought of as being kinda like 'the empire' off starwars?
Its like they're the bad guys because they're percieved as having the most money, resources and cleverest engineers (probably all true). I think alot of folks like to jump on the 'under dog' bandwagon and get behind the wee european marques because of this.

I agree, got to be Honda forks. I have some NXA units waiting to go for mine, just have to get some triples made up (unless anyone knows of some OEM clamps with 52mm top & 54mm bottom clamps)?
I rode my RS250 NX5 back to back with my MC21 Track Bike this year, the MC21 has RVF400 forks. The RVF forks are in dire need of a full strip & rebuild so it wasn't really a fair comparison, but for the record they felt terrible compared to the NX5 forks.
The RVF forks are going to be revalved / resprung/ rebushed by Reactive Suspension in Jan, so I'll let you know how they compare against the NX5 after the first track day.
But if I was just running a NSR (and not 2 RS250's as well) I would have definitely sourced a pair of USD NF5, NX5 or NXA forks as a first choice for (or if) replacing the SE / SP original forks. _________________ Rich

I have to agree. I can't see the point in fitting non Honda parts when very good USD forks are available from another Honda as good as the RS250.
Kawasaki forks always look like they have come off a kawasaki no matter what you do to them as do most other forks. Using the Honda Showa forks allows you in most cases to run the same style wheel etc. as stock. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
