i live n port elizabeth, South africa and I own a NSR 150SP. 250's are super rare this side of the world, and most are wrecked. A mate and i used to ride around alot together before he crashed his bike... he had a VJ22 RGV 250. He always knew a great deal more than me about 2 strokes, and always said to me that my speedometer is inaccurate and my top speed isn't really what it appears to be. i have recently done a top end rebuild, jetted the carb and fitted a Tyga performance chamber and silencer, as well as tyga reeds.i also adjusted the powervalves. The bike pulls really hard and my top speed indicates just over 200kmh. Is this accurate? his RGV always stops at about 180kmh... i am still running the standard gearing. Was just wondering if all is as it should be?
thanks guys! [/img] _________________ There aren't any NSR 250's where I stay, but I love my NSR 150 SP all the same!
That's about 125mph which is FAST. RS125 Aprilias supposedly get just above 100mph and dyno graphs for them show about 26 horsepower at the wheel. Tyga's own graph for an NSR150 with their exhaust shows about 28 horsepower.
I had an LS125R - the other sporty two stroke made by Honda Thailand and that would indicate 100mph on the redline in 6th. Honda's figures claimed 24 horsepower @ 8500rpm at the crank for that bike.
CBR250RRs give 45 horsepower at the crank and allegedly can do 115mph.
Going purely on comparisons with other machines based on how much power they make and what top speed that allows them to do, i wouldn't think your bike could do a genuine 125mph. _________________ After years of moaning about immigrants now i am one...

I remember a friends FS1E showing 60mph on a long hill and it was screaming for mercy _________________ Why do things simply when you can complicate them
My first bike was a restored 1974 Garelli Tiger Cross - My dad once rode beside me on his VFR down 'slack hill' in Derbyshire near Matlock and clocked me at 65mph!! LOLZ
It'd never normally pull 4th gear on the flat because it was so ridiculously tall but given a substantial hill it'd get into its 'powerband' and eventually rev out, laying waste to all in its WAKE. _________________ After years of moaning about immigrants now i am one...

Well my mate said the other night he's going to drill out his main jet, remove his air filter, and put a Micron on his FS1E and will do 69 on the flat into a head wind!
Mind you, this was well into the evening and he'd already had about a dozen shorts! I daren't tell you where he ended up that night! _________________ Andy.

Before I got my 28SE I had a '92 CBR250RR, which made 45HP on the dyno, and given a long enough bit of road got close to 200 kmph.
Maybe if you had a downhill runway you could get the 150 to 200

There's no chance of a Micron going in it
You can't say where 'he' ended up that night because 'he' still can't remember!

Got new shoes last night
Did you ever find your shirt, or did you have to buy a new one of those too?!
As for the pipe, well, could even have been a Nikon mentioned for all I can remember (I do recall that name came up in conversation somewhere during the evening!) but I'd too had a good dozen or more shorts by that early part of the evening, so to be honest all was not that clear to me either!
I didn't say TYGA pipe though, just to preserve some anonymity for you, but I see you're not bothered about that! _________________ Andy.
