hi
my problem was not the oil pump, it is that lower cylinder was not firing. i thought this cylinder was firing because you could feel pressure coming from its exhaust, but it would not heat up. i have disconnected the working cylinder ht lead to see if the bike would start. it starts fine but it dies after a couple of seconds. i have swapped plugs and i have checked for spark all fine. any ideas?? i done a compression test and compression is good.[/u]
Check your Carburator, pilot jet pluged maybe. is the plug wet or dry on the funny cylinder? wet then it maybe ignition, Dry then no fuel so it cuts out. have a poke around! _________________ feel the wind
My MC16 does this as well, tho after a bit of idling, both will fire up. I find it is usually worse when its cool and damp out. So as that isnt Melbourne for most of the year its not a problem
Hey NSRJB You got your coils changed? just like that? i thought those stuff where getting realy hard to find. Hope it works out for you though... Did you find the problem? was it in the Carburator or in the ignition? because its got to be one of the 2 on this bike. _________________ feel the wind
it seems after all that hassle with the bike, it was just plugs. i took the plugs out of my seized mc 16 engine and put them into my bike and the two cylinders fired up perfectly. i have another question, the plugs are b9ev are these suitable??. the thread lengths look the same, spark gap is similar but the electrode looks like an iridium plug. i am paranoid about this because i dont want to have melted pistons. thanks for all the response.
went to start the bike again its back to 1 cylinder, took out the plug and its very wet, so i think the bike is running very rich. i have changed the exhaust pipes to r5k pipes so this might have put the carb settings out. the bike is either an r2j or an r4j. i am going to take it to a mechanic to get it sorted
Read the specification page for your bike. It's why Andy took the trouble to put it there for free! _________________ MC21SP Plaything

bike sorted it was a blocked hose coming from one of the carbs, i'm not sure if it is an breather pipe of a vacuum pipe but bike is sorted anyway.
thanks for all the response
