Hi guys, just bought a 21 fitted with a m max deristricter, wired into the or/bl wire to the pgm. Is this as effective as doing the normal wire splice, do i also still need to do the GPS restriction as well? Just wondered why any one would buy a de restricter when you can do a splice for nowt. Any thoughts on the pros and cons of the m max appreciated. Cheers Les. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto
I am sitting with the same thing. A M-max speed deristriction box and a
HRC ignition enhancer. As far as my knowledge stretches the M-max box
plugs into your grey GPS plug that comes out of your gearbox. The HRC ignition enhancer plugs into the chip.
Please PM me your email adres then I will send you a few pictures
OK ,Just looked at some old threads on m max boxes and they have basically told me all i need to know, not a lot of good realy are they. Am i right in thinking the gps wires go into the pgm in the white connector, and is this the best place to do the splice ?

"Identify the G.P.S. wire harness coming from the gearbox, ending with the light grey connectors under the seat on the left subframe rail, and disconnect the multi-plug.
Snip the 4th, 5th, and 6th gear wires. (Light Green/Yellow, Light Green/Black, and Light Green/White respectively.)
Identify the 3rd gear wire (Light Green/Green) and as with the previous wire splice, remove 8-10mm of insulation from it.
Do not cut the Light Green/Green wire, only remove its insulation.
Solder 4th, 5th, and 6th gear wires from the G.P.S. to the 3rd gear wire, use plenty of flux to ensure a perfect connection.
Insulate the soldered connection and the bare ends of the 4th, 5th, and 6th gear wires to the PGM-III to complete the splice"
Im a few years to late on this but does this splice deristrict it totally power and speed restrictions and does it cause any side effects with any of the rest of the bike ?

It's the convenient and expensive way (if you bought it) to do the wiresplice mod. Side effects... Well, none really, assuming you have done your maintenance.
Where in Melbourne are you? I should have my MC21 ready for a test ride soon! Although I won't be taking it on the highway much (if at all).
Expensive? If you mean getting someone to do it that wont be happening as i rebuild and modify my own bikes. As far as maintenance, its getting striped and fully rebuilt and will be modifying the loom along with everything else so splicing these baby's will be the simple part i was just making sure it was the solution so thanks for clearing it up for me the reason i need it is for track and potential racing so i need it to go as fast into turn one at the island as it can lol
I live near Greensborough too. You?
