ok...i have just started to try and set up my shock, its an SP shock with an R spring, i wound the preload up befor fitting it to the bike so it would be easyer to set the sag but it 'seemed' to top out.
this is what happens, when the bike is on a paddock and you apply a lttle pressure to the pillion seat unit then let it off it clunks like its topping out, it does the same if you apply more weight. we thought at first there was to much preload then we noticed that after it clunks the unit then rebounds very slowly.
we have tried all the adjusters on full, all off and in the middle and this changes nothing at all.
does this mean my shock needs recombobulating, or am i (we) just being stupid. _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

Its up the duff mate, time for a rebuild or not be such a tight wad and buy an ohlins. Mind with your weight its never gonna top out ... lol how are you anyway buddy? _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
if you have to much preload (no sag)on the spring it can affect the other adjustments
i had a similar thing (no compression damping) with a brand new shock i bought it turned out to be a o ring missing
may be worth getting it rebuilt (serviced) anyway then you know where you stand i use k-tech for any suspension work they normally charge around £80 - 90 for a rear unit service _________________ Half the strokes, twice the fun
Nigel you are a star thank for the recomendation of K-tech, they are only down the road from me....ish
gonna be sending them the shock sometime befor the 11/05/05 and will collect it a few days later, so it will be sorted for Llandow
£50+ parts _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax
