You must have had the rear wheel off the floor at that time?
Got to have been on a paddock stand.
The viscosity of the gearbox oil, when cold, will be making the rear wheel spin. Even while in neutral.
The speedo drive is taken from the end of the drive-shaft, where the front sprocket mounts.
This will cause the effect you are seeing.
