Got a follow up response saying they shouldn't have accepted a valuation for a grey import.
They did send this in the end
Average Dealer Retail Private Sale Trade in Clean Trade in Average
High £2,650 £1,650 £1,575 £1,050
Low £2,475 £1,550 £1,475 £1,000 _________________ Why do things simply when you can complicate them
That's more like it. I think our bikes are now worth whatever someone will pay, and when you see some MC28's going for over £5000 you realise people are willing to pay big numbers for a bike they wish they'd bought when they were younger! _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Exactly Dave, that just can't be factored into some general market price guide.
I had £5K to spend on a bike when I bought my MC21SP (having just sold another bike), but it really was that mint Rothmans SP which I wanted (actually had ever since 1992) and not a recent £5K CBR / GSXR / ZXR / R1 type bike. _________________ Rich

Anyone out there one of those financial types who can approximate cost "back then" vs. cost today?
What is £3500 in 1994 equal to today? I know it was a lot of money for me back then, and that's what I paid for my MC21SE. I basically spent as much as I could muster at the time, and it probably equates to not far off £5k these days!! _________________ Andy.

Only 10 for me, though I have had my FJ1100 since 1990... _________________ MC21SP Plaything

I got my frist NSR250 back in 1992, so that's 18years of NSR ownership. It was an MC18 and was shite!! Proper fast with plenty of HRC/Jha bits on it, but the engine was a wreck.
Using lawn mower 2 stroke oil in it probobly didn't help.
I've owned 9 NSRs over that time,
5 x MC28
3x MC21
1 x MC18
The oldest bike I have now is about 5 years old, it's a Rothmans MC28SP......with a blown motor
Paid £1800 for the MC18 in '92 (I was a mug). The first MC28SP was £4,500 in 97 (the bike was 2 years old).
Im a relative newcomer, paid £1000 for my first mc21r complete with burnt out pgm and seized PV's in 2003. Didnt even bother taking it for a test ride, it looked so pretty I just had to have it.
Paid £1050 for the mc21SP in 2005 Couldnt get my money out quick enough to be honest!
I bought my mc21r track bike in bits about 2 1/2 years ago for £400, spent about that much again or more on bits for it....I now have an even bigger pile of bits and no track bike
