Neal, where did you order the wiseco's from??

TYGA doesn't stock them anymore, what other source are there, out there?

Many thanks!

Minh

Australian distributor

Otherwise look up Wiseco themself and see who they say are distributors in Aus and who they would recommend.[/url]

Hi, if you do find a supplier please let me know. I contacted Wiseco direct and they said they would need an order of at least 12 pistons to put them back into production.
I have tried all distributors in the UK and some in Europe with no luck apart from Wiseco Switzerland who had one in stock!

I'm sure we can come up with a group order?

I've tried lukesracing.com and they've said a minimum order of 25 pistons at $100 each is the best they can do to get Wiseco to make them.

I'm in for 4 pistons (atleast) if enough of us are willing to go in for a group order.

The story that i know is that between tyga and wiseco they are making a newer / beter piston . When they will be ready is another story .

Sad thing is i have missed half a season of racing waiting for a piston that would be here next week !

4 for me .

by the way that price i said above is just quoted straight from an email they sent me and if i were to order them at that price you'd have to allow for shipping to me AND THEN to you. That is if i were to do the ordering and i gotta say, chucking $2500US at an order of pistons for a big group of people is a scary prospect! Plus my paypal account only allows me to receive two payments per year i think - unless the rules have changed since i last did that.

So if anyone has a paypal business account and can receive multiple payments and feels up to the responsibility - please speak up!

ALSO, (thanks to Neal's investigation) we know that the pistons don't fit straight out of the box. You have to machine one of the skirts short to clear the crank web and drill a couple of wee holes to cool the exhaust bridge in the barrel. So its not entirely straight forward even if we all get the pistons made for us.

I just want everyone concerned to know the whole deal.

Or you could do as i have done and machine the crank case to except an un-modified piston. Hopefully this will stop the reliabilty issue with the pistons cracking on the exhaust side!

The pistons are on order from Wiseco.

For some reason they discontinued the old forging, but after overpowering them with emails and sob stories they have agreed to get things back under way.

Cost is up a tad, but we should get a lighter slug with a moly coated skirt.

They gave me a 5~6 week lead in time, two weeks ago.

(what's happening with them sausages Charlie?.....Two minutes Turkish)

All 300 engines I build (since my first one, but not Luke's) have had the cases modified to accept full skirt pistons.

Yes, I drill bridge oiling holes, as the Wiseco's don't have them. Wiseco even say to do this with many of their pistons if the intended cylinder has a bridged exhaust port.

And yes, drilling your NSR 250 piston on the bridge side does work. And should be done if you cut down the bridge so as to provide a little extra lube. The thinner bridge is more prone to expansion into the bore.
