That's gotta be the sexiest thread title EVER. No doubt gonna draw readers in like a thread entitled 'read to qualify for free beer' or something equally OUTRAGEOUS. But I digress...
I'm massively keen to have a go and i've been stocking up on different sized sprockets so i'll have a decent chance of optimising the gearing on the day.
The gearing commander (http://www.gearingcommander.com/) reckons i've already achieved 142mph@12,500rpm down the long straight at Taupo. That's on 16/40 sprockets with a 160/60 back tire. The tacho was actually showing more like 12,800rpm but i thought sticking with 12,500 would go some way to allowing for inaccuracy with the rev counter.
The bike was reaching those high revs and struggling to push any higher as the power dropped off way before the end of the straight. I'm trying a 16/38 setup next time i go there - which should stop it revving out before the end of the straight and allow a little extra speed for slip streaming.
For the sprints i'll be wading into battle with 34, 35, 36 and 37 toothers. One of those should balance revs against speed perfectly on the day! _________________ After years of moaning about immigrants now i am one...
So thats what the 34 & 35 sprockets were for, good luck mate, keep us posted. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto
