battery needed for an MC16

Tue Apr 19, 2005 10:37 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi all,

Does anyone know where to get a battery for the NSR250 MC16? I have no battery, I've been using a knackered NS400 battery but it doesn't fit properly...

Does anyone know the part number for the MC16 battery?

btw do the powervalves need the battery to work properly? Mine don't rotate between idle and 5000 rpm, and the top end feels flat - so I think they may not be opening at high RPM.

Any advice welcome for testing the above.

Cheers, Mat.

I'm sure the whole thing would barely run if the battery was flat - the PGM's like their volts.

In Swindon I'd go to 'Bristol batteries'. They have huge reference books, and I think they're on the web. Try doing a seach for specialists in your area

Hi,

Thanks for the responses guys - I put on a recharged NS400 battery which fits in the box (but is too tall to close the lid) and the whole thing runs better - you can see the powervalves rotate when you blip it off idle.

Went for a blast last night, much better with a battery as the indicators etc all worked properly. The engine seemed to run better especially low down.

I think bike needs new plugs, ran loads better once the plugs were cleaned, but I still think it needs new ones...

So then I ran out of petrol and had to push it home a few miles!!! Doh!!!!

So does anyone know the model number for MC16 spark plugs? I'm going past a bike shop on my way home tonight......

Cheers, Mat.

Hi,

I have got new plugs - still a slight misfire! Yes I put some more petrol in...

Jeff and Wayne - would you mind having a quick look at it when you come by to pick me up for the track day? It has a slight misfire at around 7000 rpm, and just feels not quite right at the top end.

Halfords near me didn't have the battery, they had one called YT4LB - could that be it?

Cheers, Mat.
