Hello and a couple of questions about the MC21

Sun Aug 15, 2010 6:33 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi all,

I am new here. Just got myself a 1990 MC21 and was hoping for some advice. Firstly, thanks for such a great site. The info here is fantastic and has already been a great help.

Now for the questions.

1. Is there wire adapter for the gear position splice still available anywhere? I am not keen on cutting the loom and would rather the adapter solution.

2. How do I get access to the online manual?

3. How long does your 2T oil last in the autolube? I have done about 1 litre in 200miles.

4. What tyres do you guys use for fast road and track use?

Thanks!

Most of these questions have been answered before, try searching first...
1.) Check the online auctions, people sell them used
2.) search and click a link
3.) search and look for something about the 2T oil pump leaking into your gear box
4.) People have different thoughts about tyres. Dunlop alphas have been fine for me, grippy, and tyre life is not an issue on my track based NSRs

1. Yes, it's called an M-Max box. I have one you can buy if you really want to!

2. Parts manual is by clicking the link on the left. Workshop manual you have to pay for it! Charles Gallant has done the work to translate it so if you're keeping the bike, it's a wise investment.

3. I get through a litre with each tank fill, about 150 miles, so 200 is very good.

4. The Alpha 10 is considered to be a great tyre. You're kinda limited with the tyre sizes we have, so see what you can get hold of at a price you can afford. Most of the tyres in the right size are good for road work.

Thanks for the replies. I will keep an eye on the static oil level and see if it is going down. Looks like I need to subscribe. Is that just a case of donating £10? I currently have a decent BT003 on the front and a Dunlop D202 on the back, so I may try and find another BT003 for the back.

Dave, how much do you want for the M-Max box?

Thanks again!
