So hey, though I would start a thread for my 28 rebuild, because no doubt I'll be fumbling along looking for advice (despite having studied up on all the online info) and also because I wouldn't mind having a record of my activities (for posterity). Just looking to get the track bike reliable and back on the track.
So the rebuild has begun because my bike won't energise (mc28 dash did light up) the clip that holds the card is broken and it won’t make the click, test the servos or kick.
I have (sourced previously) a 21 loom; stator(??) and clocks which I have plug by plug swapped over while taking off the old 28 loom. (I think this worked out ok) however I can’t tell if the bike is energising now or not.
Is there a way to do this??
It's been sitting for a while and I don't know if it won't kick because of sitting or because the loom is well cactus!
Having grabbed a copy of the 21 wiring diagram and having grabbed a multi meter from my olds place, I am about to go through each connection and check.
One question, is what exactly should I be setting the multi meter too and is it just a matter of putting one probe on one end the other on the other and making sure (the needle moves…I mean) there is connection?? (any help would be greatly appreciated!)
I was hoping to be able to kick it over with the old loom, so I could run (last little squirt to keep me motivated) it up the road throw it on a dyno, so I can see what power its putting out at the minute and determine what sort of gains I get, may swap back looms and see if I can’t trouble shoot. (would be really interesting) Despite I’m sure testing the new loom would be heaps better upstairs warm sitting down with a beer in close reach!
If you are checking for continuity on the loom, set the meter to the ohms setting, omega symbol, touch the probes together to see the needle travells fully across the range first.
Hey, thanks for the heads up re. Continuity Testing.
So yeah swapped back looms, and the bike is energising, but still no spark (top cylinder at least).
Tested the other loom and found a few wires don't seem to have a connection, so wondering if anyone might be able to suggest a decent auto electrician around the Northside Brisbane (Gebung) area?
Also, about to find info on the coil (assuming this is why I'm not getting spark) any suggestions??
Cheers, making some very slow progress. _________________ MC28 Track Bike

The power to run the bike is from the stator . The stator has the timming on it through the pgm to the coils . Try a lend a working PGM there are a couple of blokes in brisbane with NSR`s . I think yours is a good chance of being cactus.
