Hi all. this is my first post on this forum, so bear with me if I mess up. I just took delivery of an 89 nsr250 r5k and upon inspection of the bike I need a new clutch cable and the gear change linkage piece that attaches to the splined gear change shaft. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. I live in Ireland and NSR's are a very rare species over here.
PS On inspecting the bike I noticed "PJ280" stamped into the side of the barrels - does anyone know if this means anything ? Thanks
Sorry I now realise I should have posted this in classifieds- oops!!!

if the bit that clamps around the output shaft is loose you can file in between the two parts of it to widen it to tighten it up?? _________________ it wouldn't be fun if it was easy!
Thanks -thats exactly the story. The clamp bolt head had sheared off leaving the clapm to float on the shaft (probably for years) and this has worn the splines smooth on the clamp. Will try your suggestion but would prefer to replace it if anyone has one. Thanks.
You can still get them new from Honda. There was a post on here just recently (last week, I think) with the part number. _________________ Andy.

I had issues with the gear change, as it was not very precise. I found that the bolt that clamps the gear linkage that is referenced here was tightend until it contacted the linkage, but I needed to keep on tightening it real hard so that there was an effective clamp effect on it. It now works OK.
