If you mean the V4, this is all I ever found. You going to try build one?? You didn't buy the NSR500 crankcases from Mick Costin did you??? Twisted Evil

Now I've taken a closer look, it appears to have MC18 barrels on it....... or does the MC18 have NSR500 barrels on!!

You cannot get that close to the NSR 500 engine in the Collection Hall. This is as close as you can get, even then I was tempted to grab it and make a run for the airport.Looks like it's still in the same place just spun around Smile

The Yamaha Museum at Iwata lets you almost touch them

It is possible, and it will cost you about £600 for the return flight to Japan! Laughing

I'm sure there are (other) magazines with clearer pictures. It's just a case of finding them. Classic Racer #124 has an NSR500 history, and Performance Bikes did a feature around 1996 called Ms. Nice (Okada's NSR250) and Mr. Nasty (Doohan's NSR500) that has some photos too.

Don't have any measurements.... sorry. You might try Mick Costin (who was the guy selling the cases I posted). His website is http://www.micoproducts.net.

I think the main problem with the NSR500V4 is the crank. Speaking with StephenRC45 here on the site a few years back he seemed to think it's way to costly and complex to make a crank. And he should know, having good contacts at HRC and having rebuilt plenty of cranks in his time.

Don't let me put you off though...... would be a very cool project

Talk to JPX in France they made the press up crank for the RC161 replica George Beale made. The V angle(IIRC was 112deg) could throw you some curly questions regardig the crank pin stagger add to this the balance shaft equations you might as well let a experienced hand look at it.
